The Alcoograph
This clock limits the user’s alcohol consumption to a maximum of six drinks per day. This prevents the user from making resolutions that he or she will never be able to keep anyway. All you have to do is wind up the spring every day.
It works as follows: a mechanical clock makes the central disc go round and round. Every four hours, a hole in the disc allows a ball to fall into the bottom bowl. This marble symbolises the glass that one is allowed to drink. This is how six marbles fall each day, the six allowed drinks.
But you don’t have to drink them! If this happens, you can put the extra marbles in the upper bowl and build up a small bank that can be used in case of unforeseen events, while respecting the quotas you have set yourself..
